As with travel to most of the Middle East, we strongly recommend consulting your GP or a specialist travel health clinic at least 6–8 weeks before departure. For visits of under one month, immunisations against Diphtheria and Tetanus, Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Meningitis may be advised. The use of a DEET-based insect repellent is also recommended. For up-to-date health guidance, consult TravelHealthPro, the UK's National Travel Health Network and Centre. If travelling with prescription medication, check that it is legal to carry in Iraq before departure.
