Begin in Algiers with panoramic views from the Martyrs' Memorial over the Bay of Algiers, then explore the UNESCO-listed Casbah with its narrow alleys, historic mosques and palaces. Visit the Museum of Antiquities and Islamic Arts, the arcaded Rais Palace and the Basilica of Notre Dame d'Afrique, perched above the Mediterranean.
Drive west to Tipasa, a UNESCO-listed coastal site preserving Punic and Roman remains including basilicas, a necropolis, theatre, amphitheatre and baths. Also visit the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania, believed to date from the 3rd century BC, before a scenic coastal drive to Mostaganem.
Explore Mostaganem's port quarter, vibrant Tijdit Market, the historic Great Mosque and French colonial boulevards. The resort offers a private beach, pool and spa for a leisurely morning before the afternoon city visit
Discover Oran, Algeria's second-largest city, shaped by Arab, Spanish, Ottoman and French influences. Visits include the Sacre Coeur Cathedral, Pasha Mosque, Place d'Armes and the Sidi El Houari historic quarter. Trace the early life of Oran-born designer Yves Saint Laurent, visiting his childhood neighbourhood, school and the theatre that inspired his artistic journey.
Transfer to Abdelkader Park above Oran to witness the total solar eclipse, with eclipse glasses provided. The evening features a festive traditional dinner showcasing Andalusian-inspired cuisine, and the day also includes the Ahmed Zabana National Museum with collections of archaeology and fine art
Return to Algiers by first-class train for a visit to the Jardin d'Essai, one of the world's finest botanical gardens, before a relaxed stroll along Didouche Mourad Street for final souvenirs ahead of the farewell dinner.

The itinerary was quickly amended to avoid high-altitude destinations as much as possible while still making sure we had a chance to enjoy interesting experiences. While obviously sad to have missed some of the original sites, the revised itinerary was the only sensible option under the circumstances.
